The place Shanthi Kunnj was brilliant. It was located inside a coffee estate at the banks of river Bhadra. This place was beyond our dreams. Mivaan (my son) thoroughly enjoyed the place. Getting to this place is a little difficult if you don’t have your own vehicle. But once you are there you wouldn’t want to come out. I really wish we had stayed here for one more day.

Though approach road from main highway to property was pathetic, we totally forgot about it once we reached the reception area. Entire property – all houses, reception area, so beautifully and aesthetically done up that it’s a steal in the price range. We stayed for 2 nights – at Log House and next day Glass house – I think the best among all. Deck of Glass House overlooking the river is ethereal. Entire team is so helpful and willing to go any length to make your stay comfortable. Food was good and we especially liked the Bangra Fish Tawa Fried and Chilly Chicken they made for us. One can enjoy more if the group is big in size since the property is at some distance from the main town Chikmagalur. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended.

The crew at the venue was awesome. They were very friendly and received us very warmly. We had kids (2.5 years and 9 years) with us, with whom the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious – the spread very local and homely. Must thank Mr. Vincent for being a perfect host and for keeping his team very well groomed and hospitable. At the end of the trip, we came back with very fond and pleasant memories and would want to go back.

All the clichés apply – this is a gem and a jewel. The Bhadra river flows just below the estate, is accessible and maddeningly beautiful. The rooms are huge and have two ensuite bathrooms each – a VERY useful feature. The staff are friendly, polite and cheerful adding to the pleasant experience. Mr. Vincent makes the checking-in experience a pleasure and is a treasure trove of local knowledge. Young Santosh is a smiling, helpful presence, very well conversant in Kannada and making up for the rest in enthusiasm. Sunil is the one to thank for the food. It is delicious and organic, though it might appear pricey at first look, it is abundant in both variety and quantity. Situated mid-way between Shringeri and Chikmagalur, the roads are fantastic. Just the last stretch of about a kilometre is a dirt road winding through other estates, but not a problem for an experienced driver. Tip: If you want to avoid crowds go during the week.

It’s a must visit. Our experience was way better than expectation. Surrounded by lush green coffee plantation it’s approximately 45 kms away from Chikmagalur city. We went by our personal vehicle so easily reached the destination. Upon arrival staff greeted us very warmly and answered all our queries. We opted for log house which was spacious and cosy with broad windows, allowing the breeze and sunlight to pass through. There were some friendly pet dogs roaming around, which is an additional to this beautiful place. Since it’s kept in an isolated place so there is no option for different cuisines and restaurants. Buffet meal us available but need to pre-inform the staff for opting in. Food is great and restaurant ambiance is well maintained. There’s a river flowing in the back of this place which is clearly visible and heard from the restaurant. At the evening staff arranged a bonfire just beside the restaurant so with our drinks we ordered snacks also. Early morning there was a small trek arranged, they’ll take you to a sunrise point. We played in the river also since water pressure was too low. So overall, it’s a complete place to have a happy time.

Awesome experience staying here. The location is phenomenal, in the middle of a coffee estate and right next to a river. One can listen to the flowing water from the restaurant, and he river facing rooms. They serve some delicious local food and organise a small campfire in the evening. The hosts are amazing and very helpful.

This is the best weekend getaway. The place is so beautiful and serene plus it feels like a hotel with all the amenities. The rooms and toilets were so clean with toiletries. One can also get a tour of the forest along with coffee plantation. Before going there, I checked the reviews online, people have so many complaints, but I didn’t find a single problem. There were no mosquitoes and the food wasalso good. One can book this homestay without any second thoughts.

A great place to just relax and unwind.

Shanthi Kunnj is a wonderful place to wind down. Being just next to the Bhadra River, the place is as described in the photos and in fact has more to offer. The staff are extremely polite and hospitable. Cleanliness and other facilities are up to mark. Looking forward to visiting again with a bigger group.

Shanthi Kunnj is located little away from Chikmagalur. It is a terrific place to stay surrounded by coffee plantation and at the banks of river Bhadra. The rooms were clean and spacious.

This place is surely a Paradise by the Riverside. Excellent location combined with clean cottages, good hospitality, yummy food and courteous staff, nothing more to ask for to enjoy a vacation. Stayed in the Glass house, the cottage has been built wellwith spacious bathroom and a balcony that provides awesome views of the nearby forest ranges and the Bhadra river. The approach road to the homestay (1.5 kms) is not great but manageable. Mr. Vincent and team (Sunil, Prem and Santhosh) ensured that we felt comfortable during our stay. A must visit place for those looking for a good homestay in Chikmagalur, total value for money.
